A Brand New Life

Hello guys,

It’s been quite a while since I last updated my blog. I’m sorry about the late returns or “no returns at all” to your questions. Cuz I chose a totally different career path. After 8 years of engineering I decided to become an airline pilot.

Redmine Plugin Installation for Windows

In the previous post I told how work around a bug in the installation Bitnami-Redmine-2.6.0.

After successfully installing redmine now it’s time to install some plugins for redmine which is quite a daunting task for windows operating system.

  1. Copy the plugin folders in the directory “C:\Bitnami\redmine-2.6.0-2\apps\redmine\htdocs\plugins”
  2. Be careful with the name of the folders. You can get errors for that. For example remove the suffix “-master” from the plugins you download from git hub. You can find the correct name on the plugin’s website or leave it as it is. Below is an example of my plugins.

Bitnami-Redmine-2.6.0 Installation Bug

Hello guys. I’ll tell you how to work around a bug I encountered during the installation Bitnami-Redmine-2.6.0

In the last phase of the installation progress you’ll see that the message “Installing gems, please be patient” won’t disappear for a long time. Indeed it won’t for eternity. There’s no need to be patient.

Open  “%TEMP%\bitrock_installer_7860.log” file. The number of the file can be different on your PC. In the end of the file you’ll see the line “Waiting Subversion to start”.

Cross-Compile libpcap Source Code

Hi folks,
In this post I’m going to explain how to cross compile a libpcap library and use it on our target system. You can apply it to any other library as well with some minor modifications.
Let me first give a brief explanation on libpcap. It’s a library used for sending raw packets over the ethernet interface. In fact the internet protocol stack of the operating system wraps the packet with the protocol headers automatically. We can overcome this using libpcap library thus generate our own packets with custom headers and data and transmit and receive them through the network adapter.

To begin with, download the source code for libpcap from http://www.tcpdump.org website. In my case the version is libpcap-1.2.0
Extract the zipped folder and go into the directory.

$ cd libpcap-1.2.0

Bitola or Manastır as we know it. Today, part of Macedonia this lovely town occupies a very important part in Turkish history. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk studied military high school in this town.

The singer is Ajri Demirovski (Hayri Demirovski). He migrated to Turkey in 50s and passed away in İzmir in 2009. The song is quiet popular in the Balkans.

Let it go out to all immigrants of Rumelian origins.

Loading the kernel with TFTP and U-boot

Hello again.

In this post we are going to try to load the kernel using TFTP and then load the root file system using NFS. I explained how to compile u-boot source in a previous post. We should make some slight changes to it.

Prerequisites

  1. Connect QEMU to network
  2. NFS root file system on host
$ sudo apt-get install tftpd-hpa
$ sudo apt-get install tftp

I suppose you have downloaded the latest source code of u-boot from this link. Extract the file and go into the folder.
